The Christian Goal Setting Worksheet

Set the year on one page, then pray over it

A theme for the year. One focus goal. Five goals beneath it. And three prayer lists, so the goals are held before God instead of pursued in spite of Him.

"Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed." — Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)

Christian men tend to fall into one of two ditches with goals. Either they set them like everyone else and add a verse on top, or they refuse to set them at all and call it trust. Scripture walks between the two: make plans, commit them to the LORD, and hold them with an open hand.

This worksheet is the annual-plan foundation page from the 10XF Planner. It forces one focus goal above the rest, and it puts the prayer lists on the same page as the goals, where they belong.

The house rule

“Goals are not the enemy of faith. Goals you never pray over are.”

What's inside

  • Theme for the year — one word or phrase that names what this year is about
  • Focus goal — the single goal that, if it happened, would make the rest easier or unnecessary
  • Goals 01–05 — five supporting goals with room to define what done looks like
  • Pray for people — ten names you will carry to God all year
  • Pray for impact — ten places you are asking God to use your life
  • Pray for intention — ten areas where you need His wisdom to keep your motives clean

How to fill it out

  1. Start in prayer, not ambition. Ask what God is already doing in your life, family, and work. Listen before you write.
  2. Name the theme. One word or phrase. It becomes the filter for every yes and no.
  3. Choose one focus goal. If you can only accomplish one thing this year, what is it?
  4. Add five supporting goals. Spread them across faith, family, health, work, and money. Make each one measurable.
  5. Fill the three prayer lists. Ten people, ten places of impact, ten intentions. Review them monthly.
  6. Break it down. Carry the focus goal into a quarterly review and a monthly plan so it actually moves.

Common questions

Is it biblical to set goals?

Yes. Scripture assumes planning (Proverbs 16:3, Luke 14:28) and warns against presuming on tomorrow (James 4:13-15). The worksheet keeps both: plans written down, and committed to the LORD in prayer.

Is the worksheet free?

Why only one focus goal?

Because a man with seven priorities has none. The focus goal is the one you protect when the year gets crowded.

Write it down. Pray it through. Let's get to work.
